SATURDAY, MARCH 20, 2010: FIELD TRIP TO GREEN ASH HILLS and FIELD ROAD For our club field trip on the 20th, we have two locations with some great material not to far away. Bonnie and Ron checked out the other side of the road at Field Rd. and there is a whole hill of agate and jasper. Also when we went by Green Ash Hills There were some people shooting so we headed to the next canyon out and found some great agate. If you check the Gem Trails book these location have petrified wood and palm and other material. GUESTS: If you wish to attend one of our field trips, E-mail us, in advance, at SierraPelona@Yahoo.com We will meet at Mammoth and Soledad at seven thirty - that's 7:30 AM for car pooling and caravan. Bring water rock hammer, collecting bag and a lunch. We've been here before, but it has been a while. The last time we went, the weather was great, good fresh air, and we found a lot too. This of course depends on the weather so watch for further E-mails. Bonnie and Ron |

| SATURDAY & SUNDAY, APRIL 24 & 25, 2010: TOURMALINE FIELD TRIP (Reservations required) This is a field trip sponsored by the California Federation of Mineralogical Society, Southern section, and it will also be the Sierra Pelona Rock Club's April field trip as well. This is a special trip, and it will be at TWO different tourmaline mines. The owners of both mines know we will be there in April, but they must know how many rockhounds to expect. Shep's trip to the Oceanview and Himalaya mines will be our April club field trip. There are more spots available to go on our field trips so no one wanting to go will be left out. But please, as Shep says, make your reservations early. If you went last time you know how much fun it is and what you can find but if you didn't, just remember that is where Bonnie found the seventy-five carat green gem stone valued at seven hundred and fifty dollars right out of the ground and Shep found an amazing crystal. I have a few finds to remember the weekend but I remember most the fun and the excitement of the search. Make a weekend more memorable by staying with the group at Lake Henshaw or in San Diego and taking in the night life and then drive up the hill in the morning. The Barona casino isn't far either and they have great rooms. We will still have a week day trip and probably have an other Saturday outing maybe earlier in the month.
